The two young men reached the gas station in the late afternoon. Although they had seen it lying in the distance since this morning, the big pole next to it shouting the words GAS HERE to everything in the neighborhood, it had taken them longer than expected to get there. The trip through the wasteland in the burning sun had slowed them down more than expected.
“An hour”, Estragon had said, “tops”. Boy, had he been wrong.
The gas station was positioned next to what used to be a very busy highway. But after the last civil war, some twenty years ago, the highway was no longer in use. Faster roads we
